NHT Refund 2024 Apply Online

On January 1, 2024, the National Housing Trust (NHT) began to accept applications for reimbursement of 2016 payments. Refund requests for donations made in 2016 or earlier are still open to qualified donors at any point in the year.

Furthermore, for the year 2024, the NHT would prolong the cash return provided to qualified public sector employees. It is being reminded to current mortgagees who obtained their loan straight from the NHT that their reimbursement for contributions will be credited back to their mortgage account.

The following information is provided to donors to guarantee a seamless and quick application process:

  • When applying online, proceed with care and be sure to utilize only safe, official NHT sites. Steer clear of unapproved or third-party channels.
  • Applicants should carefully and accurately submit their information throughout the application process to avoid delays. Verify information twice, including name, bank account, and donation history.
  • Throughout the application procedure, applicants must have their Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) and National Identification Scheme (NIS) cards on hand.

Clients are kindly reminded that, if the application was properly completed, the processing time for a donation refund is 15 working days.

Beware of Fictitious Communication NHT

False communications posing as from the NHT often rise at the beginning of a new refund period. These are phony and have no connection to the Trust. We suggest to contributors:

  • Ignore Unsolicited Emails: The NHT only gets in touch with customers if there is an issue with their filed application or to inform them of successful refunds. Unwanted emails purporting to be from the NHT should be ignored.
  • Verify Email Addresses: Only email addresses validated by NHT will be used for official NHT correspondence. Before answering, confirm the email address of the sender.
  • Avoid Clicking Suspicious Links: Any links in emails that seem dubious or request personal information should not be clicked. You will be sent to the secure NHT platforms via official correspondence.

Use any of our official avenues to get in direct touch with the NHT for help or to report questionable activities.

Never use the contact details you get in unsolicited emails. Contributors may protect their personal information and have a hassle-free application process by following these rules.

Who needs an NHT refund?

  • People who, while employed, contributed payments to the National Housing Trust (NHT).
  • Those who want to remove their payments from the NHT once they quit their jobs.
  • Jamaican nationals who meet the standards and are qualified to get a reimbursement for their NHT payments.

How does the NHT Refund Work?

Beginning in the 8th year after the year of their first donation, Jamaicans and Jamaican residents who have been making yearly contributions to the National Housing Trust are eligible to receive an annual return of each year’s contribution.

This contribution refund is referred to by the NHT as “Regular.” As previously mentioned, the refunds are given out yearly and in an eight-year stagger.

This means that eight years after you began having NHT contributions deducted from your income, you will be eligible for a refund of the first year’s contribution, and each subsequent year you will be eligible for a refund of the money you contributed eight years prior.
