The Bihar state government initiated the Bihar Kanya Utthan Yojana in 2018 to financially support the higher education of female students. The scheme supports female students who have passed their intermediate in completing their graduation.
The scheme aims to empower girls and make them self-reliant through easy access to education. Under the scheme, the government provides financial aid till graduation to eligible unmarried female students.
This year, female students will get incentives of ₹25,000/- under the scheme who have secured first-division and ₹10,000/- for students who have passed the 2024 matriculation exam.
The students from Schedule Tribe and castes can also apply and get incentives up to ₹8000/-. The government has opened the application portal for registration, the eligible unmarried female students can apply for the scheme before 15 May 2024.
The applicants must apply before the deadline as it is clearly stated on the website that applications after the deadlines will not be considered for the incentives.

Who is eligible for Bihar Kanya Utthan Yojana 2024?
As we mentioned earlier, the target beneficiaries of this scheme are female students who are pursuing higher education and have cleared their 2024 intermediate examinations.
However, there are some eligibility criteria that you must meet to apply for the Bihar Kanya Utthan Yojana 2024:
- The female students must be permanent residents of Bihar.
- The parents of female students must not be working at any government office as a government employee.
- The applicant must belong to the Economy Weaker Section (EWS) community.
- Under the scheme, only two girls can apply for the Kanya Utthan Yojana per family.
- Candidates who have cleared 12the examinations can apply for the scheme.

Eligible unmarried female students can apply for the scheme through the e-Kalyan portal of the Education Department, Medha Soft. Follow the below steps to apply for the Bihar Kanya Utthan Yojana 2024:
- Go to the Medha Soft Department of Education official website at https://medhasoft.bih.nic.in/
- Scroll down to the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana incentives scheme for class 12 students on the webpage.
- Next, Click on “Apply for Online 2024” in the section of Bihar Kanya Utthan Yojana 2024.
- If you are applying for the ST/SC quota, you can click on “Apply For Online 2024” in the Bihar Kanya Utthan Yojana 2024 SC/ST section.
- Scroll down on the next page to the “Students click here to apply” button and click on that button.
- Next, read the instructions on the portal carefully, tick the declaration boxes, and continue to move forward in the application process.
- Now, enter all the required details asked on the portal, such as name, DOB, Married status, mobile number, email ID, district, marks obtained in 12th, registration number, etc.
- Now, complete the final process and your application for the Bihar Kanya Utthan Yojana 2024 will finally be submitted on the portal.
The Bihar State government will do a physical verification of the applications submitted on the portal to ensure transparency in the process. The state government is determined to make sure the benefits under the scheme reach eligible students only.
